DARIEN, Conn. — The script for the 2011-12 season is looking very familiar to the Darien High girls basketball team. For the second year in a row, the Blue Wave enters the home stretch of the season on the outside looking in, but with a chance to grab a conference playoff berth.

Currently tied for ninth in the conference, Darien (8-6 conference, 9-7 overall) has won five of its last seven games to push into contention for the postseason. Darien suffered a setback on Friday, however, falling to Norwalk. Three of the Blue Wave's final four games are at home, possibly giving Darien the advantage it needs to sneak into the playoffs.

Darien hosts third-ranked Wilton on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Blue Wave then takes on two of the teams it is in the running with, hosting Stamford on Friday and Fairfield Warde on Feb. 13. Darien caps off its season at Bridgeport Central on Feb. 15.

Darien beat Westhill on the final day of the regular season last year to capture the eighth and final seed for its first conference playoff berth in nearly a decade. The Blue Wave lost to eventual champion Trumbull.
