DARIEN, Conn. – The following letter to parents and members of the Ox Ridge School community was written by Principal John Rechi.
At a faculty meeting this morning, I announced my intention to retire from the position of principal of Ox Ridge School, effective June 30, 2012. This decision comes during my 26th year at Ox Ridge and my 44th year as a public school educator in Connecticut. The years have passed quickly and have provided me with incredibly poignant memories.
Ox Ridge and Darien have been truly special for me, as evidenced by the amount of time I have remained here. I have been blessed with talented, hard-working, and dedicated staff members, who provide each child tremendous care and attention. The parents have been wonderful supporters of the school, the staff, and me. The result is a close working relationship that has benefitted the students who have attended our school throughout the years. I have come to know nearly 3,000 boys and girls at Ox Ridge. I am proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to serve them!
In addition, I have been fortunate to have been able to work with talented and dedicated fellow administrators. We have worked together, learned together, and led together. The caliber of these individuals enhances the success of the entire school district, one of the best in our nation.
In six months, I will leave this wonderful place and the people that mean so much to me, and who have had a tremendous impact on my life. I will take with me many fond memories, and a genuine sense of accomplishment. I look forward to serving our school and Darien during the next six months with the same level of enthusiasm, commitment, and performance that have marked my tenure.
With warmest regards and best wishes,
John F. Rechi
