DARIEN, Conn. – The Blue Wave Booster Club contributed nearly $25,000 through gifts and donations last year to the Darien High School sports teams and band. Among the gifts were annual contributions to temporary lights that allow high school teams to continue practice sessions throughout the fall as well as aid youth sports programs in town.
Since its creation in 2006, the Booster Club has assisted the Darien High School teams through the purchase of equipment that would otherwise not be provided by school budgets.
Other gifts included a golf cart for use by the athletic director, a timing clock and stand for the boys and girls track teams, goalie equipment for the girls field hockey and ice hockey teams, a football squirt cart as well as equipment for soccer, cheering, basketball, skiing, squash, swimming and volleyball.
The Darien High School winter sports coaches are submitting requests for Booster Club gifts. Donations are driven solely through membership revenue. Membership fees of $100 include two free passes to all home football and basketball games, as well as a Blue Wave Booster Club sticker. Booster Club board members will be at all remaining home football games with brochures and membership information.
