DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Advocates for the Education of the Gifted will be holding a memorial tea in honor of Barbara Harrington. Harrington, who died in August, created the gifted education program in the Darien Public Schools in 1969.
The organization created the Barbara Harrington Fund in 1984 to provide grants to teachers. In addition to creating the gifted education program, now called IDEA, Harrington was an active member in the Darien Advocates for the Education of the Gifted, the Science Education Center, the Darien Library, the Red Cross and the Darien Representative Town Meeting.
On Saturday, March 3 the DAEG will celebrate Harrington’s life with a small gathering to share memories of her. The memorial tea will be held at the home of Shyalma Menon and Arjun Krishnamachar at 7 Waterbury Lane. The event will last from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
If you wish to attend the tea, contact Carolyn Langelier at cckc@optonline.net or 203-655-1486.
