Some people might think it's getting a little too cold for miniature golf, but that won't be an issue this weekend. The Darien Community Association will be teeing off its first indoor mini golf event Saturday to benefit the DCA Scholarship Fund.

"It's a one-of-a-kind event, we've never done it before," said Mary Flynn, executive director of the DCA. "It's going to be fun. We're expecting the very young and the very old."

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the first and second floors of the DCA will be transformed into a mini golf course, complete with obstacles, bumpers and tubes as obstacles for golf balls. Library Mini Golf, a company that arranges miniature golf courses for fundraisers nationwide, is setting up the course. It previously arranged an event at the New Canaan Library, which helped inspire the DCA to try a similar event here.

Tickets are $5 for individuals and $20 of families, and all proceeds go to the scholarship fund. "The DCA has always given scholarship money to local students to help them for all four years of college," said Diane Farrell, head of public relations and programs for DCA. "We've been doing it since 1941, and we've given almost $2 million to date."

Ring's End Lumber, Palmer's Market and Festivities at the Meadowlands are also sponsoring the event. Refreshments from Palmer's will be available all day.
